Prepare for the health check

What to have ready for the visit

Bring your health history. Ask how it affects the plan.

Bring a plain account of your health

Write down what you want to discuss. Bring the names of medicines you take and any questions about a past treatment. It is fine to describe a problem without knowing its medical name.

The Wegovy (semaglutide) label is its official medicine information. The version reviewed September 26, 2026 highlights thyroid cancer history, severe stomach trouble, eye damage related to diabetes and plans for pregnancy.

It also points to other diabetes medicines and planned procedures involving anesthesia, the medicines used to make someone unconscious or deeply sleepy.

These topics help frame the conversation. They do not decide whether a medicine fits you without an assessment.

Ask what a test would answer

As of September 26, 2026, no fixed set of blood tests was required before every prescription under general federal prescribing law.

That general rule does not tell you whether you need blood tests before semaglutide. Tests may still be needed for your health or under state rules. Some medicines also have their own federal testing requirements.

Ask the clinician: “Do I need any tests before this medicine, and what would each test tell you?”

What would this test help you decide?

Ask how its result could change the plan. Ask where it can be done and how you will hear the result.

Which parts of my history change the options?

Ask the clinician to explain the connection, using words you know.

Leave with the purpose of the plan

Ask for the proposed medicine name and the goal it is meant to address. Ask what else can be discussed if it does not fit.

Keep any unanswered point for the next conversation. A short list is easier to bring back than a page of unfamiliar terms.
