Ask how the plan is reviewed
Write down the phone number or message address for questions about your health or medicine. Ask which health professional replies, how soon to expect an answer and when your next check will be.
The Wegovy (semaglutide) label is its official medicine information. The version reviewed September 26, 2026 calls for blood sugar checks during diabetes care and regular resting pulse checks.
It also calls for kidney checks when a reaction could cause fluid loss.
Kidney function means how well the kidneys are working. The clinician decides which checks belong in your care.
What will we check, and what would change the plan?
Ask how results and symptoms will be discussed. Keep the reply in words you understand.
Discuss procedures and pregnancy plans
The label asks patients to tell their care team about semaglutide before planned surgery or a procedure with deep sedation, which makes someone very sleepy.
It reports rare cases of stomach contents entering the lungs during such procedures. The label does not settle whether stopping beforehand lowers that chance.
The weight-management label also flags possible harm in pregnancy and gives prescribers a plan for a pregnancy planned in advance.

In the follow-up after STEP 1, a semaglutide weight trial, participants regained roughly two-thirds of their lost weight during the year after treatment stopped.
